Periodic updates enable us to enhance and expand Visual Studio more frequently to support the latest software development innovations for building and managing modern apps. New technology improvements and fixed issues in Visual Studio 2012 Update 5
\nTechnology improvements
\nThe following technology improvements have been made in Visual Studio 2012.5:<\/p>\n

Team Project Rename support for Local Workspaces: Team Project Rename is a new feature added in Team Foundation Server 2015. For Visual Studio 2012.5, we’ve included the ability to update local workspaces after a team project is renamed. Performing a get or check-in automatically corrects the workspace mapping so that it uses the new team project name.<\/p>\n

Fixed issues
\nThe following issues have been fixed in Visual Studio 2012.5:<\/p>\n

In Source Control Explorer, a branch operation causes an error and is not completed.<\/p>\n

Consider the following scenario in Visual Studio 2012 before Update 5:<\/p>\n

You create a new branch from an existing branch.
\n You switch Team Projects or servers without closing Visual Studio.
\n You perform a new branch operation on another existing branch.
\n In this scenario before Update 5, the branch operation generated an error and was not completed. Visual Studio incorrectly treated the new folder as a regular folder instead of a branch until Visual Studio was restarted.<\/p>\n

Note This issue applies only to a Team Foundation Version Control (TFVC) instance that is hosted on either Team Foundation Server (TFS) or Visual Studio Online. Git version control is unaffected by this issue.<\/p>\n

Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2012 Update 4<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Visual C++ Redistributable Packages install runtime components that are required to run C++ applications built with Visual Studio 2012. <\/p>\n

The Visual C++ Redistributable Packages install runtime components of Visual C++ libraries that are required to run applications developed using Visual Studio 2012 on a computer that does not have Visual Studio 2012 installed. These packages install runtime components of the C Runtime (CRT), Standard C++, ATL, MFC, C++ AMP, and OpenMP libraries. <\/p>\n
